A recent weeklong training workshop focused on practical and theoretical methods for teaching maths to younger students. The training, which involved school inspectors, district education coordinators, and officers from both public and church-run educational institutions, aimed to introduce student-centered approaches.
Francis Hari, Nuku District School Inspector from West Sepik, who attended the workshop, noted that the training aligns with the education system’s 1-6-6 reform. “Teachers will be introduced to new methods for teaching maths and, importantly, how to make it fun and relevant to the lives of younger students,” Hari said.
Hari emphasized the importance of teachers being proactive, innovative, and creative in their approach to teaching maths. He expressed enthusiasm about returning to his province to share the new techniques and insights gained from the training with his fellow educators.
