Inspired by her experience at the summit, Dr. Semos is now leveraging Indigenous Australian experiences to enhance health research practices in Papua New Guinea. She is particularly interested in applying these learnings to areas such as climate change, water, sanitation, hygiene, and women's health.

Drawing from research conducted in Cairns and the Torres Strait, Dr. Semos emphasizes the importance of co-designing and co-leading research projects with local communities. This approach aims to ensure that research outcomes are more relevant and effective for the communities they serve.

By integrating First Nations learnings into health worker training and research, Dr. Semos is paving the way for a more inclusive and impactful approach to addressing health challenges in Papua New Guinea. Her work highlights the value of cross-cultural knowledge exchange in advancing health outcomes.
