The University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) wishes to inform all students, parents, and sponsors of the approved Fee Structure for the 2025 Academic Year. The fees, endorsed by the University Council in 2024, remain the same as in 2024. Please review the accompanying notes for clarification. All fees are payable in PNG Kina and must be paid online via the BSP Pay platform.
1. Compulsory Fees for All Students
All students are required to pay the compulsory fees, which include the tuition fee, service fee, administrative fee, and SRC fee. Payment must be completed online before registration.
2. New Students
2.1 Postgraduate and International Students:
Postgraduate and international students, including South Pacific students and dependents of UPNG expatriate staff, must pay an additional K533.00 on top of their annual tuition fees.
2.2 Letter of Offer and Invoice:
New students will receive a Letter of Offer and Invoice by 15th January 2025.
2.3 Payment Deadline:
All compulsory fees must be paid online in full by Thursday, 6th February 2025. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the automatic withdrawal of the offer and place at the University.
2.4 Laptop Requirement:
All new students are required to bring their own laptops for online and blended learning.
3. New and Continuing Students
3.1 TESAS Scholarship Students:
Students under TESAS scholarships must pay the compulsory fees as specified. Adjustments may apply based on the subsidy determined by DHERST.
3.2 Campus Accommodation:
Accommodation on campus is not guaranteed. To secure a room, students must pay the compulsory fees plus 50% of Board & Lodging fees by 6th February 2025.
3.3 Accommodation Fee Payment:
Students must pay the full compulsory fees and 50% of accommodation fees before taking up their rooms.
3.4 Security Bond:
A refundable security bond fee of K250.00 must be paid by all first-time residential students.
4. Continuing Students
4.1 Fee Queries:
Continuing students with queries regarding their fees must contact the University via email at feequeries@upng.ac.pg or call the provided phone numbers.
4.2 Academic Standing:
Students who fail to meet the minimum GPA requirements for progression must not return to the University in 2025.
4.3 Outstanding Fees:
Students with unpaid fees from previous years must clear all debts, including the compulsory fees for 2025, by 6th February 2025.
4.4 No Guarantees Accepted:
The University will not accept Letters of Guarantee for registration. All fees must be paid in full by the required deadlines.
5. Payment Process
5.1 Online Payment Only:
All payments for undergraduate programs must be made online using the BSP Pay platform via the University Information System (UIS). Detailed guidelines are available on the UPNG website.
5.2 Cash Payments:
Cash payments will not be accepted for compulsory fees, except for board and lodging fees or distance mode students. The BSP Pay platform for online payments will be available from Monday, 20th January 2025.
