The course was delivered by the University of Adelaide, a recognised leader in inclusive education. It provided the graduates with practical skills and knowledge to help drive positive change in PNG’s education sector by promoting accessibility and inclusiveness for all learners.
According to the Australian High Commission, the graduating group forms part of the Somare-Whitlam Scholarship cohort, established in honour of PNG’s 50th independence anniversary.
The Commission, in a statement on social media, commended the educators for their commitment and passion towards inclusive education and their desire to improve learning outcomes for all students.
Australia Awards PNG congratulated the graduates for completing the program and acknowledged their efforts in contributing to a more inclusive education system in PNG.
The initiative forms part of broader education cooperation between Australia and Papua New Guinea, focusing on building capacity and improving equity in the education sector.
These newly qualified educators are now expected to return to their communities and schools equipped with new strategies and tools to support children with diverse learning needs across the country.
