Tertiary Selections Report for Eastern Highlands Province 2025

 The Eastern Highlands Province has made remarkable strides in education, with 1,166 students securing spots in various tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea. According to the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) 2025 Tertiary Selection list, the selections include both school leavers and non-school leavers from 15 institutions in the province.

Aiyura National High School emerged as the leading contributor, sending a total of 198 students to tertiary institutions. Goroka Secondary School followed closely with 287 students selected, making it a significant contributor to the province's success. Kainantu Technical Secondary School also made a notable contribution, with 134 students securing placements.

Non-school leavers contributed 116 students to the total, showcasing the diverse pathways available for students to enter higher education. They secured placements in fields such as nursing, teaching, business, and technical programs across the country.

Students from Eastern Highlands Province have been accepted into a variety of institutions, including universities, technical colleges, schools of nursing, and teachers' colleges. Among these, universities accounted for 405 of the total selections, followed by 362 students entering business colleges and 262 students progressing to technical colleges.

While larger schools dominated the numbers, smaller institutions like Asaroka Lutheran Secondary School (50 students) and Kabiufa Adventist Secondary School (100 students) also demonstrated commendable performance. Meanwhile, Mesauka Secondary School and Henganofi Secondary School each contributed 25 students to the total selections.
