Bougainville Copper Limited has announced the revival of its Scholarship Program under the Bougainville Copper Foundation for the upcoming 2024 academic year, as revealed today by the company's Bougainville advisor, Mr. Lohial Nuau MBE.
Mr. Nuau outlined the parameters of the scholarship, citing initial constraints due to financial limitations. The program will focus on students in their fourth and fifth years at tertiary institutions in Papua New Guinea, as well as twelfth graders in secondary schools. These limitations stem from BCL's pending Exploration approval and subsequent restricted funds.

Priority consideration will be extended to landowners from the mine site, former tenement areas, and Arawa town. However, Mr. Nuau emphasized the inclusive nature of the initiative, assuring that all Bougainvilleans and individuals with special circumstances, such as those with disabilities, will also be eligible for assistance.
The Bougainville Copper Foundation's support will encompass tuition fees, accommodation, book allowances, and pocket allowances, while excluding coverage for airfares. Application forms are available for download from the BCL website (www.bcl.com.pg) or can be obtained from BCL Offices in Buka, Arawa, and Port Moresby.
Prospective applicants are advised that the application window will close on the 10th of January 2024, encouraging eligible students to seize this opportunity for educational support.
