PNG Defence Force Recruitment Online and Requirements
The Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) is the nation’s military organisation responsible for protecting the sovereignty, security, and national interests of Papua New Guinea. The PNGDF plays a vital role in border security, disaster response, humanitarian operations, and peacekeeping missions across the region.
This recruitment drive is an important national initiative to strengthen the country’s defence capabilities. Successful applicants will undergo professional military training both in Papua New Guinea and overseas — including specialised courses in Australia under the PNG–Australia Defence Cooperation Program. These programs prepare soldiers to serve confidently in modern defence environments.
STEP 1: CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY
General Enlistee: Male, 18–27 years, completed Grade 12.
Officer Cadet: Male/Female, 18–30 years, tertiary qualification required.
Direct Entry Officer: Male/Female, 18–30 years, tertiary qualification + work experience.
STEP 2: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS
Prepare the following documents and combine them into ONE PDF:
- Letter of Interest
- Updated CV
- Grade 10 & 12 Certificates
- Tertiary Certificates (if any)
- Police Clearance
- Recent Valid Medical Certificate
- Three (3) Character References
- Valid ID (NID, Driver’s Licence, Passport, etc.)

STEP 4: SHORTLISTING & TESTS
If shortlisted, candidates will undergo the following assessments:
- Literacy Test
- Medical Examination
- Psychometric Testing
- Interview
- Physical Fitness Test
STEP 5: FINAL SELECTION
Successful applicants will be officially informed by the PNGDF Recruitment Office and placed into military training programs in Papua New Guinea and, where applicable, Australia.
