PNG Defence Force Recruitment: How to Apply
The Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) continues to strengthen national security by recruiting young men and women for military training and development. The PNGDF plays a major role in border protection, humanitarian work, and regional peacekeeping.
Successful recruits will undergo training in Papua New Guinea and may attend specialised programs in Australia under the PNG–Australia Defence Cooperation Program.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
- General Enlistee: Male, 18–27 years, Grade 12 completed.
- Officer Cadet: Male/Female, 18–30 years, tertiary qualification.
- Direct Entry Officer: Male/Female, 18–30 years, tertiary qualification + experience.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
Prepare a single PDF containing:
- Letter of Interest
- Updated CV
- Grade 10 & 12 Certificates
- Tertiary Certificates (if any)
- Police Clearance
- Valid Medical Certificate
- 3 Character References
- Valid ID (NID, Driver’s Licence, Passport, etc.)
Step 3: Apply Online

Manual or paper applications are no longer accepted.
Step 4: Shortlisting and Tests
If shortlisted, applicants will undergo:
- Literacy Test
- Medical Examination
- Psychometric Test
- Interview
- Physical Fitness Test
Step 5: Final Selection
Successful applicants will be notified by the PNGDF Recruitment Office and placed into military training programs.
