Free Education : Both Project Fees & School Fees paid by the Government, says PNG Education Minister

 Papua New Guinea Government has declared the Education is the country is free.  There should not be any fees charged to students and parents by the schools throughout the country, PNG Education Minister Jimmy Uguro told PNG Parliament. 



he Marape/Rosso government is committed in providing tuition fee free (TFF) funding to schools in the country for the 2023 academic year.

 Minister  Uguro assured parents and guardians that the government has allocated funds to enable all school aged children to access universal quality education from Preparatory grade to Grade 12, including students in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE) and inclusive education.

Minister Uguro told Parliament that K632 million is allocated for tuition fee free funding (TFF) and K102 million is allocated for project fees.

Minister Uguro said this in response to question without notice raised by Member for Moresby North-East John Kaupa on whether the tuition fees have already been paid into school accounts.

Mr. Uguro says, the government is committed in paying the fees on time with the Treasury Department to release 50 percent of TFF and projects fees next week.
