High Number of applications for PNG Police Recruitment 2023

PNG DEPUTY commissioner of police administration Joanne Clarkson says about 173,000 people have visited the constabulary’s recruitment site, The National newspaper reports.

Clarkson said since Jan 9, about 26,000 people have applied for various jobs while some hard copies were yet to be posted from the provinces.

“The hard copies will be posted through the constabulary’s account with Post PNG so by Jan 23, the headquarters should receive the copies,” she said.

She said the high interest in recruitment had caused issues with the site as did the lack of full internet coverage across the country.

She encouraged people to keep applying for positions before the online application closes on Friday.

“Once the short-listing is done by the headquarters, the constabulary will run recruitment centres similar to what we did for the reservist training,” she said.

“This is to ensure that a person who applies with a certificate and transcript is genuine.

“Arrangements have been made with the Higher Education and the Education Departments to certify all those documents.”

She said short-listed candidates would also go through a process of physical assessments before they were sent to training.

Clarkson said training would start at the end of April at the Bomana Police College.

The college is undergoing refurbishment in preparation.
