Bougainville Copper Foundation Awards 56 Scholarships

 The Bougainville Copper Foundation (BCF) has recently granted 56 scholarships following the relaunch of its Scholarship Program on January 3, 2024. The announcement, made by Mr. Lohial Nuau, MBE advisor to Bougainville Copper Limited (BCL) on Bougainville, marks the initial phase of a broader initiative set to expand with the approval of Exploration Licence ELO1.

Mr. Nuau emphasized that the current scholarship distribution is just the starting point and anticipates a rise in the number of scholarships offered now that the Exploration Licence ELO1 has been officially approved. The foundation received a substantial response, with a total of 582 applications submitted by the closing date on January 17, 2024.

Applicants who have been successful in securing scholarships will be informed by Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Mr. Nuau expressed that individuals who were not successful this year are encouraged to reapply next year for the academic year 2025.

Highlighting the positive trajectory of the Bougainville Copper Foundation's long-term outlook, Mr. Nuau conveyed optimism about the foundation's scholarship program regaining its status as the signature community benefit program for BCL once operations resume.
