Twenty police officers from the National Capital District (NCD) have successfully completed an intensive one-week induction training program conducted by the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance (SILAG). The graduation ceremony took place on Friday, 23rd August 2024, at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Port Moresby.

The program, which aimed to equip the officers with essential skills and knowledge for their roles in public service, is part of a continued effort to enhance the capabilities of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC). This marks the third batch of officers to undergo the training, bringing the total number of trained officers to sixty.
Police Superintendent Administration, Mr. Warrick Simatab, who attended the ceremony, expressed his gratitude for the partnership between SILAG and RPNGC. He noted that the training has had a significant impact on the officers, transforming their perspectives and positively influencing their approach to law enforcement.
The training covered a wide range of topics, including ethics, leadership, conflict resolution, and effective communication. Participants engaged in practical exercises, case studies, and teamwork, all designed to deepen their understanding of their responsibilities within the police force.
Mr. Simatab emphasized the profound effect the program has had on the officers, stating that their newfound knowledge and skills will enhance their ability to serve the community effectively. He highlighted that these positive changes will contribute to better law enforcement practices and improved public safety in NCD.
As the officers proudly received their certificates, the ceremony underscored the dedication of Papua New Guinea’s police force to upholding justice and maintaining order. The role of SILAG in shaping the professional growth of these officers was commended, with their impact expected to resonate throughout the organization and the communities they serve.
