Twenty PNG Students Depart for Studies in China Under Destiny Scholarship

Twenty students from Papua New Guinea have departed for China under the Destiny China Scholarship program to pursue studies at various universities. The students left the country over the weekend as part of the scholarship initiative.

Destiny China Scholarship Managing Director, Regina Orawi, confirmed that this group is the second batch of students, with the first already in China. She further noted that a third batch of students will follow once she returns to Papua New Guinea after ensuring the second group is settled in China.

Ms. Orawi emphasized the importance of human resources in the country's development, stating that providing young people with educational and employment opportunities is vital for Papua New Guinea's progress. She added that this initiative plays a key role in youth empowerment and the nation’s development efforts.

She expressed gratitude to members of parliament, parents, community leaders, and individuals who have supported the program and helped make it possible. Ms. Orawi also encouraged parents interested in enrolling their children in the scholarship program to visit the Destiny China Scholarship office at Unity Mall in Port Moresby.

Registration for new intakes is open in March and September each year.
